The video clip for You Weren't There was just played here in Australia for the first time on music show Rage at 5:05am this Saturday morning (I stayed up all night to see it!), and Lene looks as beautiful and angelic as ever :) That's the first chance I've had to see the video too! Surprisingly, that's only the 2nd time ever in 3 or 4 years that I've seen Lene Marlin on Australian TV. It was a long wait for the 2nd time!

I have some hope now that the single will be released here in Australia! I thought that there would be no chance but I was so happy when I heard that the video would be played today.
I just wish I could find out whether it will be released here or not.

By the way, Rage is a TV show here that runs for about 7 or 8 hours or more starting around midnight every Friday and Saturday showing Australian and international new release (mostly alternative) videos and the top 50 singles for the week.

Alisa, excuse the stupid question... you've got cases connected to your pc, haven't you?

This is Lene Marlin, an angel sent on Earth to sing with celestial voice the endless beauty of Paradise.
Hearing to her voice lets us come nearer to perfection.

I have to confess, I'm so depressed, cause I try and try to listen to the new song, but this damn computer is not able to give any sound and so I'm sitting infront of the screen and see, that the song is played, but I am not able to listen to it. That sucks. I hope to hear her new song very sonn, cause I really get impatient.

Wow! This week "You weren't there" is double A-listed on the Norwegian radio NRK Petre... meaning it will be played on every single radio show on the channel, from 06:00 in the morning to 21:00 in the evening. NRK Petre is streamed from http://nrk.no/upunkt/ to the left, choose bandwidth on the "Hør Petre" menu and hit "Gå".

I take back everything I said about the song being too demanding for a general audience. I'm so hocked, It's frightening.

I find that the chorus of You Weren't There sounds so much like something you'd hear from the cranberries

Yeah, it definitely does! She wasn't exactly miss happy pop chick before, but she's definitely darkened the sound even more. I think that's a good move.. I dunno what the rest of her audience feel about that though. =)

I like it, and predict another mass hysteria lol

I think the song is too subtle to reach the crowds. This is not another song in the pile, but I do think it demands too much from the listeners. It's not easy listening, and maybe that's a good turn for Ms.Marlin. This song sets a darker tone for her upcoming album.

I love the song, and I feel very optimistic now about the album (especially when it was confirmed that Lene have written all the songs herself).
Just one thing: I'm not really happy with the production on this song. What I loved about PMG was the way Lene's voice was always in the foreground. This time they seem to go for a fuller sound, with less emphasis on Lene's voice. Not sure if that's a good thing. However, I don't agree with those who think that Lene's voice has changed as such, it just sounds different because of this new band-sound. And her English is still not all that easy to understand by the way, but who cares. (By the way I hope she'll sing something in Norwegian one day!)
But overall, the song is great, beautiful, dreamy melody that takes you to another place, the way only Lene can.
Forresten, velkommen, Lene-fans fra Norge. Betryggende at det ihvertfall finnes noen av oss...

I love this song!

At first I was a little disappointed though, I had expected a song like Unforgivable Sinner, but already on the 2nd listening I got chills down my back.
Damn, those lyrics are sore!! I have my own mind made up about them, and what they're about (*fingers itching to write the story*) but I wont go into that. Like many of Lene's songs, I dont think this one is from personal experience, but one can never know, right?
Anyway, I found a small insignificant error in the lyrics from YWT that were posted in this thread. In the first verse on the second line I believe she sings "she fulfilled her dream", not "she felt faint and dreary" ... but again... insignificant. The song is so emotionally strong that she could be singing in greek (ir italian for that matter) and I would still catch the vibe. Lol.

Amazing site too btw. I really love how up-to-date and informative it is! And if you need help translating norwegian articles into english, though I'm sure you already have help, I would be more than happy to help. It's all for our fellow fans! =)

huggles,
coffeegirl
