Posted - 20 Mar 2004 : 14:44:09 Have you heard the new artist Anne Hvidsten. I heard a couple of songs and they're really good. She's deffintly promising atleast. She seams to have alot in common with Lene. Theyre in the same age and quite similar in style (the stuff I heard this far anyway), theryre both from norway and I heard that Jorn Dahl is the producer for Annes debut album. It seems like there is many similarities there. She says hereself that Lenes breakthrough was an inspiration for her. You can read more about her and her thoughts about Lene in this article (But it's in norwigian):

You can also listen to some of her songs on her homepage:

Posted - 17 Mar 2005 : 20:02:18 Hi Tarnim, I've been doing some looking around although I'm not too sure whether Jem will release her album in wider Europe yet. However, it is out in the USA, so I am sure it is going to be released far and wide
I will have a good look around for you about other UK artists, and report back. There are many good bands and solo artists, although at the moment my mind is a blank (which is nothing new...) |

Posted - 15 Mar 2005 : 00:04:02 I just listened to some of Jem's stuff on her webbsite, sounds kinda intresting. Do you know if she will be releasing her album only in England? My parents are going to London in april and I've asked them to pick up some records that aren't released in Sweden (like the UK version of PMG and Nerina Pallots new album Fires) It would be a good oportunity to maybe get this Jem's album too. You might even have some more suggestions on national english singer/songwriters?

Posted - 14 Mar 2005 : 20:12:59 I have a reccommendation ;)
She's not a new lene as such but I want to suggest her anyway - a singer/songwriter from the UK called Jem
I read somewhere that she's being seen as a new Dido, and sometimes in her voice I can hear that, but I think she's got enough to stand out on her own.
Her single "They" was released today in the UK, and her album is out now |

Posted - 12 Mar 2005 : 20:58:57 If you like Anne Hvidsten, then I think you'd like Chantal Kreviazuk from Canada. They sound very similar and Chantal is a great songwriter. |

Posted - 25 Mar 2004 : 13:20:55 Already the fact that is Jorhn Dahl the producer.... however I have listened and I must say that a little likeness there is... perhaps is also a little more country respect to Lene

Posted - 23 Mar 2004 : 12:34:35 just saw that www.lene-marlin.no posted an article about Anne the same day I posted my messege. Just wanted to tell you this was a complete coinsidence. In had no idea about that untill today.
I've listened a bit more to Anne. Shes deffintly more popy than Lene and not really as talented(allthough thats no shocker ), but she still seems good.
