I'm gonna continue on my quest listing fine musician and their work. Now the turn has come to my favourite song! This is it:
Song: Dear Frustrated Superstar Artist: Nerina Pallot Album: Dear Frustrated Superstar Written by: Nerina Pallot
Sadly, many of you probarbly don't know wich song this is or who Nerina Pallot is either. She's not big at all, as far as I know. Very sad indead, because she's deffintly one of the most talented musicians I've ever heard of. So why is this song my all time favourite? Hard to say. It's just so good in every perspective. The real great thing is probarbly the text thats kinda about our hopes and dreames and the felling of fright that these might not come true and to not have the guts to presute them. Many great similarities are used that makes the song really come to live. The music is kinda simple and mellow but not to actually slow witch creates a perfect mod and really gets the felling of the song out. The hurt gets out so to say. All music is almost perfectly timed but not in a way that it gives a felling of being to polloshed just natrual. It actually doesen't sound pollished at all. Nerina herself preformes it fantasticly. Her voice fits perfectly and she has a great felling to it. I would like to pick oout a line from the song thats SO perfect: "when you die and wonder was that it? will you think of how you wished you lived? Well youre here now. Yeah you're here now". If I would create a long list many Lene songs would fit in, but this is still my number one favourite. Please share youre favourite songs to!

My favourite songs, like some of you already know, are the ones from HIM ( His Infernal Majesty)-The Finnish love metal band. The songs are written by the frontman and singer Ville Hermanni Valo ( I love him...too handsome!!!). He writes all the lyrics and the music, which is performed and arranged by Linde ( guitar), Migè ( bass), Gas ( drums) and Burton ( keyboards). All their songs are wonderful, according to me!! They speak about death and love. Love and death are always together and the one can't exist without the other one. The love Ville talks about, sprinkled by tears, sorrow and a deathly atmosphere is so romantic. The music is not slow and light but it's not chaotic rock...it's a kind of music that belong only to them. I often cry listening to their songs, as well as I do while listening to Lene's ones. I love melancholic lyrics....they are the only one able to move you!!
I quote some lyrics by HIM: " The truth that could set souls free is buried within sweet pandemonium concealed by disbelief the riddle stays veiled in sweet pandemonium" Sweet Pandemonium from the album "Love Metal"
" I'm in love with you and it's crushing my heart I love you please take me into your arms when love and death embrace". When Love And Death Embrace from the album "Greatest Lovesongs Vol.666"
"Love is a flame that can't be tamed and though we are its willing prey, my darling we are not the ones to blame"
"Pretending" from the album "Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights"
" Love is insane and baby we are too it's our heart little grave and salt in our wounds"
I LOVE YOU VILLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What!?!? Another day is already down from the top spot on the album list!?!? I never expected that from you, Tarnim.
Anyway, if I were to choose a favourite song.... hmmm.... right now I´m very much into REM, so maybe Fall on me... or Find the river
Or Beatles' Blackbird.
Alphaville's Forever young? No, it's NOT cheesy!! It's truly an amazing song.
Seems it's imposible to pick just one...
One thing that puzzles me a bit is why everyone in this forum only seems to listen to music from the 90s and on. Nobody here who likes the glorious 80s? That was pop music's greatest decade, in my opinion.

P.S. Forever Young is a classic song and it's quite good but it's so cheesy. But not in an all bad way.

Perhaps people here not even were born in the 80's But I agree with you, pop music had its peak back then. Take a band like Kraftwerk for instance... You can laugh in my face but Sandra is also still a big inspiration of mine.

Yeah... I know, I'm a bit on the old side (29), but still... when I grew up in the 80s and 90s I listened to stuff from the 60s. 90s music never interested me at all, apart from a few albums, like Lemonheads "Come on feel the Lemonheads" and Kent's "Hagnesta Hill", and PMG of course.

Eurodisco was fun.

People think of it as cheesy because they only listen to the chorus. In fact, this song has amazing (although a bit cryptic) lyrics, about fear of nuclear war (anyone who grew up in the 80s will know what I'm talking about here) and about making the most of your life while you can. There is a certain naivity in these lyrics that I just find so beautiful.
No ,but seriusly, back in the 80s you didn't have boybands like BSB, Westlife, The Calling. The music teens listened to back then - bands like Wham, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, A-ha, Pet Shop Boys all had their distinct sound. Most of them wrote their own music. They sounded pretty awful at times, but at their best they produced classic songs that will stand the best of time better than 90s grunge, boy bands and last but not least all the hiphop parasites. (I just read that ultramoron 50 Cent is launching his new line of shoes together with Reebok. Whatever happened to integrity?) |

29 is not old. I might be a tiny bit biased though
