Hi, May I ask something?
I think www.lene-marlin.com (The Lene Marlin Offical Website) have been saying "Coming Soon" for many weeks. Why's that?
Also, is that any material or club that help Lene's fans to make an fan site like others?

The official site has been dead for too long, I agree. It should have been up months ago in time for her comeback. Dont really know why it's not.

However, the link www.lene-marlin.com is *not* to the official site, it's a good Dutch site, very much alive :)
It's Richard Buikstra's site, a Dutch fan who does a great job with his site. He even makes it in two languages (like lene.it )

I remember somebody writting in a forum (probably mBuzztalk) who was The domain 'www.lenemarlin.com' for a large sum of money. Shows the lack of interest by Virgin.

Hi.
I checked the owner of the domain lenemarlin.com and EMI Norway owns it, so that's not the reason for it's inactivity.
I propose some probable reasons:
a) They don't see a reason to spend the monies, b) Since Lene is private, she won't use the website actively, c) Other websites does the job for free d) Lene does no have the capacity/time to attend the website and answer questions, so she don't want to disappoint her fans e) Virgin/EMI Norway are not used to building websites for their artists f) It's up to Lene to initiate it, but she's not aware of the need g) There are legal problems (with her old manager?) that affect displaying public information h) She's not a "big enough" artist i) EMI/Virgin is being cheep with Lene, maximizing profit, miniizing effort j) EMI/Virgin Norway organisation is bureaucratic or have ignorant leadership k) No website as a "punishment" for Lene's CD being traded on the net
Other suggestions?
Regards Staalorm

a) They don't see a reason to spend the monies,
Off all reasons, this is the first one I really don't buy. They spent much money on vidioclips and other kinds of promotion. Compared to that a website is very cheap.
quote: b) Since Lene is private, she won't use the website actively,
Maybe, but she on tv shows and in magazines, so why should she not use a website. A website is as intimate as one makes it. I'm a very private person myself, but I have my own website anyway.
quote: c) Other websites does the job for free
Like Lene.it, Lene Marlin No and others? In that case there should be more communication with the people who make those sites.
quote: d) Lene does no have the capacity/time to attend the website and answer questions, so she don't want to disappoint her fans
She doesn't need to spend al her time on this site. Once a month would be a great thing.
quote: e) Virgin/EMI Norway are not used to building websites for their artists
There are many companies who make sites for other companies.
quote: f) It's up to Lene to initiate it, but she's not aware of the need
Perhaps.
quote: g) There are legal problems (with her old manager?) that affect displaying public information
Ah, that might be a reason.
quote: h) She's not a "big enough" artist
Excuse me? I can show you over a thousand site of artist who are not as 'big' as Lene.
quote: i) EMI/Virgin is being cheep with Lene, maximizing profit, miniizing effort
Could be.
quote: j) EMI/Virgin Norway organisation is bureaucratic or have ignorant leadership
We're talkin here about Virgin and Virgin still is Richart Branson. They didn't become such a succes beeing a bureaucratic company. They 'leaders' might be ignorant.
quote: k) No website as a "punishment" for Lene's CD being traded on the net
The punished us with copy-protected CD's. And we still waiting for her first concert! That's enough punishment.

Not really.

What? Did she change the manager?

I don't think so. She's popular and welcome in the world. She's TOO big enough.

WRONG! Cdex can change them into mp3 and wav and other format!

The situation is not very clear at the moment. It is believed Lene has no manager at the moment. And the story with Arne Svare is not very clear either

What's Mike Hedges done with REM? I'm a big fan of Stipey and Co. - but never heard of him before watching the Another Day DVD.

I fear I'm mistaken. He's a well know producer but he didn't work with REM. He did work with U2 and The Cure: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDSUB020403291200270380&sql=B4taqoalayijv Sorry

Oh, but if you do manage to think of a link between them - feel free to let me know!!

Take a look at the booklet from AD, page 2. I quote:
quote: from the AD-CD Words and music by Lene Marlin Produced by Mike Hedges for 3Khz Recorded and mixed by Ger McDonnel etc.
