At least this piece of news was totally new to me, so I thought I'd let you in on it.
In an article on Saturday, http://www.ba.no/70/19/68/9.html , there is a review of a concert the Norwegian artist Sondre Lerche gave in Texas. The reviewer goes on about how everyone expects Sondre to hit big in the States, and that people in the American music industry has high hopes for him. Then comes the interesting bit:
They [Virgin Norway, Stageway, other international record companies]
will promote him in the States together with Lene Marlin. She has returned from her exile and is now working together with the star producer Glenn Ballard, the man behind Alanis Morrissette.
That's all it says, but I have sent an e-mail to the journalist, so I hope to know more. After searching on the net, I found out that this Ballard-chap has worked with artists like No Doubt, Backstreet Boys (!!), Lisa Marie Presley and others, in addition to Alanis, whom he produced and co-wrote Jagged little pill (and the follow up)for. (They wrote all the songs together, apparently).
Nothing is said about the release-date, but if they intend to promote her in the States together with Sondre, then it can't be that far away, since he's already over there playing gigs.
But is this really good news for Lene-fans? Lene doesn't need anyone to co-write her songs, and certainly not someone who's worked with Alanis Morrissette. But that's just my point of view of course, some of you might think this is splendid news.

Did you read the last news? It seems that Lene does the things she wants, even against the record company plans.
Yes, I have an enourmous faith in Lene!
Of course I am hoping to continue on as a music artist. I have written all the songs for the next album, and am looking forward to beginning the recording process. How the new album is accepted, no one knows. I feel I have already accomplished more then one should ever be able to dream about. What I know for sure is I need a long holiday after this. Thanks for the response to this thread. Unfortunately, the guy who wrote this article hasn't bothered to reply to my e-mail (moron), so I can't bring you any more news on this.

I think you're very close to the essence of the Lene-magic here. PMG might not be 100 % perfect(though it's certainly very good!), but it's 100 % Lene.

same here. Marko, I appreciate your faith in Lene, but you have to realise that these people (the American music industry) will have their own agenda (maximise radio airplay, for a start), their own idea of what Lene should sound like (in the heavily segmented American market). I am on principle sceptical to ANYONE interfering in Lene's work, simply because the final result wouldn't be 100 % Lene. I hope his contribution is confined to one or two songs intended to break Lene in the States.

Mari, menomale che sei intervenuto. Infatti mi sembrava assurdo che due artisti facessero promozione contemporaneamente, non s'è mai visto ed è controproducente per la casa discografica.
E poi credo che sarà Lene ad offuscare Sondre, perché dovrebbe essere il contrario?

E si vede che non conosci bene Lene. In una delle chat lei stessa ha risposto a una domanda simile che le hanno fatto (se la casa discografica le imponeva di fare cose contro la sua volontà lei come si comportava).
La risposta è stata che per fortuna ciò non è mai successo e che cmq quando capita che non sono d'accordo su una cosa e lei non vuole farla, dice semplicemente di no.
E ha ragione a farlo!! Lene è la "diva" e dunque comanda lei.
E poi perché credete che il parto di questo nuovo lavoro sia durato tanto a lungo? Io credo che Lene abbia la testa abb. dura, ma in senso positivo. Le cose si devono fare come dice lei (non mi riferisco alla parte organizzativa e tecnica, ma guai a chi le tocca le sue creazioni)

Allora cmq non è ke Sondre e Lene faranno promozione contemporanea in USA...Sondre la sta già facendo. Lene la farà quando uscirà il Cd. L'articolo dice solo ke sono della stessa casa discografica, ma ovviamente la promozione avverrà in 2 tempi diversi visto ke Sondre la sta già facendo e Lene la farà quando uscirà il nuovo album. Quindi non preoccupatevi x la questione "diamo gli spazi prima ad uno poi all altro".
Dunque riguardo a Ballard, è molto famoso. Cmq non mi risulta ke abbia lavorato con i BSB.....Ha lavorato parekkio con Alanis, questo è vero.

Nella notizia c'è scritto che il tipo ha co-prodotto l'album di Alanis... per quello di Lene nn c'è scritto niente quindi nn è detto che intervenga anke in quello (anzi, io rimango parecchio scettico...)

Se devo essere sincero un duetto con Alanis non mi piacerebbe, il suo genere è completamente diverso da quello di Lene, non le vedo bene insieme. Se il nuovo album sarà + rock, benvenga, ma spero ke non la facciano assomigliare ad altre star con l'unico obiettivo di farle vendere il maggior n° di album!!
P.S. Ma ki è questo Sondre?

Un duetto con Alanis Morissette non sarebbe male, e poi sarebbe anche una buona pubblicità per Lene in America. Quello che mi preoccupa e la promozione con Sondre, che limitarà di sicuro le vendite di Lene.

Ma cosa credete, che abbia scritto canzoni su canzoni per poi non inserirle nell'album?
Sappiamo bene che Lene è capacissima di fare tutto ciò che vuole e anche da sola, ha determinazione e buon gusto. Ci mette un po' di più, ma le cose le fa per bene.
Perciò pensiamo positivo, vi chiedo solo questo.

oh ragazzi allegria questa è una grande notizia,i testi sono sempre scritti da Lene, ma questa volta il produttore potrebbe essere cambiato o aver affiancato hans g.Che ci sia un produttore più esperto potrebbe solo beneficiare ed aiutare Lene nella maturazione, infatti lei non'è esperta in composizioni musicali così un aiuto le sarebbe utile.
Insieme Lene e Sondre, possibile specialmente per ridurre i costi, ma ho paura che uno dei 2 si dovrà adattare alle vendite dell'altro(e credo che ci perda Lene).
Se dovesse essere alanis non potrò che essere felicissimo, aspettiamo se le notizie di questo giornale sono fondate ormai no siamo molto distanti dall'album.

Be non abbiamo proprio detto che sia una brutta notizia quanto piuttosto affermato quanto Lene sia capacissima di scriversi da sola i testi. Che motivo ci sarebbe di farseli scrivere da un tipo? Ho amato Playing my game perchè si sente che è vero, che i sentimenti sono suoi e se permetti pensare che qualcuno canti cose di altri, per quanto esperienze comuni, mi da un po' fastidio anche perchè un conto è scrivere cose comuni e per tali in modo vago e un conto è raccontare, seppur cripticamente, le proprie esperienze personali mettendici dentro le proprie sensazioni e i propri sentimenti che, per quanto sempre comuni, sono vissuti da ognuno in modo diverso. Un duetto con Alanis? Niente male, ma che ti fa pensare che poi sia lei e non uno degli altri schifosissimi nomi? Speriamo bene...

D'accordo con te sul fatto che Lene sappia scrivere benissimo le sue canzoni da sola, ma francamente mi fa più paura la lista degli altri nomi che hai citato con cui il tizio ha lavorato (ma non si sa in che modo). Il fatto di uscire negli stati uniti con Sondre Lerche mi pone il dubbio se la Virgin voglia occuparsi prima del nuovo mercato tralasciando un p' il vecchio (ahimè, noi  ).
