I don't agree. Ask any European why Michelle Branch, Stacie Orrico, or Hillary Duff is and changes are big they know at least one of them. Besides MTV there are other ways to get to known artist from the US. Chances are people from the US know Westlife. And everybody knows The Beatles and The Rolling Stones

Few European artists make it really big in the US, the exceptions are the two "British invasions", first in the 60s with the Beatles & co, then with the new wave/pop bands in the early 80s (Duran Duran, Culture club, Wham, Tears for Fears etc). Oasis and the so-called BritPop from the 90s, for instance, was completely ignored by the Americans (for good reasons, in my opinion). |
