Many CD are now copy controlled, right?
But they are really stupid. Cdex have solved the problem completely. I/We can easily convert songs in the CD into MP3. *But not Lene Marlin....
I think i will not convert them into mp3 because of spreading out the music. But listening to the music in my mp3 player or in the computer for smaller size and a spare copies.
So what do you think? Copy Controlled = Convert Uncontrolled?

I know a Russian site where 'Another Day' can be downloaded in sererval formats including MP3 and AAC. So it is possible to convert AD to MP3. With the iTunes Musicstore and other similar stores it should be possible to buy AD as MP3.
Copy controlled = chanlenge for hackers

AAC is another music format that is sorta like mp3 [compression method] but its not as usefull as the famous Mpeg Layer III [MP3], And also it doesn't meet the standard of mp3,
U can do anything with your Music CD [including convertions] And U can make 1 backup of it just for spare, but you can't give the copy CD out [Like giving it to friends] And if you want to make sure of this being legal read the legal info on your cd case!
But overall you CAN convert it as long as you don't change ANY info. in the record [song]

Where do get this from? AAC was developed by the MPEG group that includes Dolby, Fraunhofer (FhG), AT&T, Sony, and Nokia—companies that have also been involved in the development of audio codecs such as MP3 and AC3 (also known as Dolby Digital). When compared side-by-side, AAC proves itself worthy of replacing MP3 as the new Internet audio standard. Take a look at these AAC advantages over MP3: Improved compression provides higher-quality results with smaller file sizes Support for multichannel audio, providing up to 48 full frequency channels Higher resolution audio, yielding sampling rates up to 96 kHz Improved decoding efficiency, requiring less processing power for decode The Data Speaks for Itself In numerous comparison tests, AAC comes out on top. Check out these impressive results: AAC compressed audio at 128 kbps (stereo) has been judged by expert listeners to be “indistinguishable” from the original uncompressed audio source.* AAC compressed audio at 96 kbps generally exceeded the quality of MP3 compressed audio at 128 kbps. AAC at 128 kbps provides significantly superior performance than does MP3 at 128 kbps.* AAC was the only Internet audio codec evaluated in the range “Excellent” at 64 kbps for all of the audio items tested in EBU listening tests.*
* Information provided by Dolby Labs.

Making backups is doesn't go without saying in every countrie. Here a consumers' organisation lost a law suite it started against major musiccompanies for the use of copyprotected CD's.

Yet they are fail to protect their music from people download the mp3. I am not saying I support to download free illegal mp3, but the Copy Controlled Technology is none.
They just have to find another way.

To Meriadoc: I read it over a magazine/catalog from the nullsoft company [The creators of Winamp] And for the second part: I just said the rules in our country and I think I said for more info. READ the legal info. ---

Hmm, very technical, but... I've read about the Another Day cd being copy protected and all, yet, I was able to play it on my computer, and save songs as WMA files to listen to while I'm typing... so, it didn't seem so controlled to me...

Apparently they don't like the competition. AAC is sometimes refered to as MP4. A lot of people, including some from the press, see AAC as a product from Apple. Dolby actually developed this format for DVD so more language tracks could be used on one copy and to prevend movies on DVD's to be copied.

We're already familiar with the expression RTFM now we get the expression RTLI
