So, is Lene or Espen singing in any verse ?
I recognized Sissel, but not others, though I was thinking of Lene when I heard the last verse, but it seemed to be a bit too 'clear' to be Lene's voice... so what ?
Hey what do you think of me now? Am I not like I once were Still if you don't know me, what's the story of this pen I guess you're not a stranger and I can tell you're not a friend It might take a while but I guess I'll manage waiting 'till then...
Then... when you confront me with your thoughts. |

Lene is singing the last verse...
Belive me, it's her. If not, I will resign from lene-marlin.no taking immediate effect...

Now I hear it, too. I was missing a small distinctive characteristic in her voice. But it's there, I'm relieved. And she seems to sing along in the first refrain as well?
PS: And of course we don't want to lose Tef. |

I'm listening to it continuously... I'm kinda ravished by this song. Really awesome, the lyrics too. A masterpiece, something that simply cannot come out from only one singer, but I'm very proud that Lene had an important role. Thank you guys!!

Yes, I thought immediatly the same, even if she has such a strange sound... I would say very sexy!! LENE, SING A SONG IN NORWEGIAN PLEASE!!!
I like a lot the rap part too, it's distinctive of the last years. But I like the whole song, and I would know who sings on every chorus. Lene on the first one, but I thought she is also around min. 3.00 ??
So Lene sings "Og jeg - jeg kan være en venn" (or is it already Sissel?) and then "Jeg kan være en venn/ Jeg ser at du faller/ Jeg ser at du faller/ Du vil reise deg igjen"???
Cannot control this... this thing called Lene |

01Når himler brennes sorte
02Når solen lager natt
03Og alle er blitt borte
04Og du tror du er forlatt
05Når dagen går i stykker
06Når tiden er forbi
07Og håpet trenger krykker
08Og en hånd og holde i [å holde i? *g*]
09Jeg kan være en venn
10Jeg ser at du faller
11Jeg ser at du faller
12Du vil reise deg igjen
13Jeg kan være en venn
14Jeg ser at du faller
15Jeg ser at du faller
16Du vil reise deg igjen
17Og jeg - jeg kan være en venn
18Når meningen blir liten
19Og tomheten så svær
20Når troen er blitt sliten
21Så er jeg fortsatt her
22For når ingenting kan gjøre
23Det helt og godt igjen
24Er det en ting jeg kan gjøre
25Jeg kan være en venn
26Jeg kan være en venn
27Jeg ser at du faller
28Jeg ser at du faller
29Du vil reise deg igjen
30(rap)
31Jeg kan være en venn
...
38Du vil reise deg igjen
... My limited knowledge about the voices of other norwegian artists tells me the following (and that VG article from this morning):
01-04 Sivert Høyem 05-08 Thomas Dybdahl 09-16 Lene Marlin, Espen Lind? 17 Bertine Zetlitz 18-19 Sissel Kyrkjebø 20-21 Sissel Kyrkjebø, ??? 22-23 Lene Marlin, ??? 24-25 Kurt Nilsen 26-29 Kurt Nilsen, etc. 30 Ravi 31-38 Choir Then later Odd Nordstoga (2x jeg kan være en venn, jeg kan være en venn), Morten Abel (du vil reise deg igjen; ser at du faller) and of course Lene again.
PS: I forgot to say (other international fans, please forgive me): Lene, please write and sing more Norwegian songs. This one is kind of a cherry on the cake for my existence as a fan. |

Right! I didn't notice it.
Don't you here Lene also in the first chorus after the rap part?

Hmm, I'm quite sure. Tef seems to think the same (http://www.lene-marlin.no/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1295#1295).

Nope, but remember - first I couldn't believe Lene was actually singing at all. Doh! After almost three years. Schande über mich!

Thanks to Tef, now it's all clear. So it's Maria Arredondo who has a "similar" voice. Hmmm... why does Espen sing so much? But Lene closes the song and that says all to me
P.s. Please could someone translate the beautiful rap part too?

Hmm, maybe something like:
"I'm sending songs to Mesopotamia, Hear me send' mild messages to Dagobah, No, I cannot stop thinking 'bout Neru, then 'bout Hood, then 'bout Sioux, You mustn't sleep away that, Ravi promises sorrows will come time by time, We're gonna have to compose song by song, tone by tone, now and then, Don't dare to stop when it's getting tough! We'll overcome that, promise get you up, up, up!" |

One thing about "dann og vann": It wasn't in my dictionary, but it sounded strangely familiar... And when I looked it up in an online version of Bokmålsordboka I found it does not have anything to do with water. *lol* It's the Norwegian form of the German "dann und wann" (now and then)... Sometimes it is so strange.
Well, and as to the rest, I had to find a compromize between rhythm and accuracy.
However, I'm satisfied with the result. Feel free to publish it. |

Well, I can almost guarantee you there's no normal school where you can learn it. I taught it myself and have been listening to internet radio and watching TV via video streaming.
Eh, PS: This video file flew to me this evening (please don't ask for details...hush... ):
